Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Should I begin studying now or closer to my exam?
A. There is no benefit to waiting until you are closer to exam time. Customers who have began their exam preparation one year or more before taking their exam always tell us that they're very glad they took that approach.
Also, keep in mind that BTA provides its customers with any updates and changes that are made from the time the course is purchased until the time that you actually take and pass your exam.
Q. How much time do I need to spend studying with your materials?
A. Although the answer to this question depends on the quality of an individual's previous clinical training and experience, our surveys in California show that successful exam candidates have spent over 75 hours studying with our materials for the Standard Written Exam, and an additional 35 hours studying for the Clinical Vignette Exam.
Q. What is the difference between your materials and those of other companies?
A. Our customers who have also used study materials from other companies consistently tell us that our materials are exceptionally…
* clearly written
* well organized
* well focused
* easy to use
* interesting and engaging
* and thorough
They also comment on the high quality of our phone consultations and customer service.
Q. Who is the instructor of your workshops?
A. Dr. Stan Taubman, PhD. Dr. Taubman has specialized in state license exam preparation since 1977. He is on the faculty of the University of California, Berkeley, and has extensive experience in community mental health, private practice, child welfare, family services, and the other human service settings addressed on the license exam.
Q. Who is the author of your materials?
A. Unlike other companies whose materials are written by a variety of people over the years, all BTA materials are written by our core group of Associates, experienced clinical professionals of the highest credentials who are currently engaged at leading educational and research institutions. Although we have staff who take and fill orders and handle other clerical functions, all workshops and phone consultations are provided only by our core group of Associates who have actually researched and developed our quality training materials.
Q. Do you offer consultation?
A. Yes, we provide free expert phone consultation to support your exam preparation. Even prior to making your purchase, you may speak directly to one of our BTA consultants if you request. We are also pleased to provide free consultation to help your supervisor help you prepare for your license exam.
Q. Should I purchase the Online format or the Printed format of the practice exams?
